Sporting Spaniel Show - NSW

On Friday, we had the Sporting Spaniel Show in Castle Hill, Sydney.  The judge was famous Pointer breeder David Wong from Australia.

I handled Jet again in the Aus Bred Dog Class and this time won my class in a great entry.

Trevor Webb with Amblespring Louis Roderer, me with Ch. Wongan High Flyer and
Cam with Ch. Sandicam High Command

Jet then went on to win Challenge Certificate over all the other class winners!  Yeah!!

The fun didn't stop there...

Mother Rickard with her new baby Sandicam Summer Sensation "Sammy" won her Baby Puppy class.

BOB Line up - Me with Jet and Mother Rickard with Annie (Ch. Maketawa Sweet Dreams) who won BOB.

Cam and I competing aggressively for Runner-Up Best of Breed which he won with Sequoia.

Annie then went on to win RUBIS @ Sporting Spaniel ~ a great day for Team Victoria!

Sydney Easter Royal 2010

Let the show begin...  We headed off to the Royal Show just after 6am on Thursday as English Springers were on first in Ring 1.

Each entry gets his own "bench" where the dogs are to be kept until 4pm that afternoon.  Each breed is "on display" and you aren't allowed to leave until the whole show is over!

Benching Area for Exhibits/ors @ Sydney Royal

I handled Jet (Gr Ch. & SU(u)Ch. Wongan High Flyer) in the Australian Bred Dog Class.

Jet and I "cracking a stack" as they call it in Aus!

Jet got 3rd in his class - there were 9 or so entered in his class.  He was an absolute dream to show - and boy can he move!

After the judging, we enjoyed a light lunch of snacks, biscuits and wine with other ESS exhibitors (Shannon Lancaster, Mike and Kate Keely, Trevor and Sonja Webb) which was great!

We went home after the Royal and although we had hoped for an early night, our fellow Avina van Village campers soon learnt where it was all happening!  Another night to bed after midnight....

Team Victoria head for Sydney...

So.... we woke up at 4am to get the last goodies packed and headed over to Wallan to meet up with Cam Cavallo.... and so the roadtrip to Sydney started at 6:30am:

Chris Stobbie, Cameron Cavallo, Stephanie Rickard and me
TEAM VICTORIA

We stopped for the first time at Holbrook and Mother Rickard made us run the dogs (all 10!).

Here are the faithful servants:

Duly being supervised by Mother Rickard:

Mother Rickard (who's title will change after Saturday I'm sure!)

As I said before, they have to "pump" their own gas in Aus - you fill your car, then go into the shop and pay what you used!  Would NEVER work in SA!

Anyway, they thought it was quite hilarious that I have never pumped gas, so they made me:

We arrived in Sydney just after 5pm and settled in, then got takeaways - more PizzaHut! :-D   We were soon joined by some other Victorians.... and the wine started flowing...

Just before we left on our roadtrip...

This is Stephanie and David's house in Gisborne, VIC

Mother Rickard and I went shopping - in our quest to find Maize Meal so that I could cook them some "pap" with their BBQ planned for next Tues night!

We went to the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne and got 3kg for $15!!

Me with the screaming butcher, trying to sell his porterhouse steaks @ $15 per tray!
